Is your chimney in rough shape? Are your bricks and mortar starting to wriggle loose and pop out? Is your chimney a safety hazard? Your chimney was built to handle extreme temperatures, wind, water, and whatever else mother nature wants to throw at it. Over time any chimney will start to show signs of degradation due to exposure to the elements or settling issues. Oftentimes, if you catch issues with your chimney early, steps can be taken to patch or fix your chimney. However, once your chimney reaches a certain point of deterioration, a total rebuild may be in order. When this happens, it is crucial to hire a mason that is, not only an expert in tearing down and rebuilding your chimney, but also has safe and honest work practices. At Northeastern Masonry & Chimney, our masons have been trained in the latest masonry techniques and are safety certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA).The CSIA has the highest in safety and craftsmanship standards, so you know you’re getting great service.Process of Chimney Rebuilds - Albany NY - Northeastern Masonry

What happens during a rebuild?

The first thing we need to do is inspect your chimney and determine if it needs a rebuild in the first place. Sometimes, although your chimney may look like it’s crumbling, we may be able to repair it. For most homes, the portion of your chimney that is above your roof is the only part that needs to be rebuilt. This makes sense since it the section of your chimney that is exposed to the elements. Basically, what we do is remove all of the brickwork and mortar from your chimney to the point where the chimney is structurally safe again. We will then rebuild the top part of your chimney on top of the structurally safe part. This will include creating a new chimney crown as well to protect your masonry from moisture. As we’re rebuilding, we’ll make sure that bricks are adhering the mortar correctly and that we are building an even and solid structure. Once completed, you’ll have a brand new chimney to show off to the neighborhood.

The most critical part of a good rebuild is hiring someone who is experienced and has a reputation for quality. A poor rebuild can lead to an uneven chimney, dangerous falling bricks, and more financial costs. At Northeastern Masonry & Chimney we have over 25 years of experience repairing and rebuilding chimneys. In addition to our experience, all of our masons are also CSIA certified, meaning you won’t find a more qualified mason in the area.
